Government does not care about your health

To the editor:

The government is not a person!

With all the talk and debate over government health care I thought it appropriate to remind everyone that the government is not a person. So let us stop referring to government as if it has feelings, emotions, or any other quality that we attribute to a living, breathing, human person.

The very phrase “government health care” is wrongly named. The government does not care about your health. As a matter of fact, the government does not give a rip about you! Indeed, it cannot! It is not a person! It is not a “being” at all! It does to have a soul or sprit. Why my dog, Riley, who is capable of showing affection, loyalty, happiness, and sometimes guilt, has far more personality then government.

This is a major problem as I see it in how government and its politicians manipulate the emotions of citizens. They want you to think that “government” has your best interest at hart and is the best “person” to decide what is best for you. And it is really a bunch of “hooey: — the stinky stuff, you know. And it all boils down to this; that we think of government as having feelings. And we all know better of course, at least when we stop and think about it for a moment.

But that does not stop the manipulators from using it as a weapon against you. Former president Bill Clinton was one of the best at the trade when he said his famous quote, “I feel your pain,” Ya, right! As if he lost any sleep over it. What he was attempting to do was to put a “human face “or“ human personality” onto a “thing” called government. Sad to say, a lot of people fell for it then, and still are falling for it the lie today. I repeat, the government has no feelings, no emotions, no passion, and no pathos! Indeed, it cannot! It is not a person, not a being—it is a thing! And when we get that straight in our thinking – feeling—we can better see our way at being better citizens.

You that’s right you the “person” reading these words, are on the other hand, an actual individual, human “being”, quite capable of the full range of human feelings. That’s because God has created you as a unique, unrepeatable, “no-body-ever-to-be-like-you-again-ever” person. And as a “person” you are valued, yes, even loved by this God. You see, He can do this, since unlike government, He is an actual person, and you have been created in His image and are capable of experiencing the same emotions as He.

And this is where we as American citizens get ourselves into trouble whammy! It happens when we start thinking – and feeling—that government is not only a “being” but when that same government becomes “God”! Wake up citizens! Washington, D.C., is not the throne of heaven and Obama is not the “Messiah.” It is not the government’s job to care about you. You do not have a grandfather living on the banks of the Potomac River. So stop expecting the government to give a hoot about you. Only one God is able to do that; and His Messiah was born on that first Christmas! And God bless “we the people”!
