Dear Desert Conservative Visitor,
Earlier today the Senate voted to end debate and force a final vote on the health care takeover. This action almost certainly assures passage of this terrible legislation in the Senate sometime on Christmas Eve — talk about the Grinches who stole Christmas…
Once again, all 60 Democrats voted YES to move the health care takeover forward and every voting Republican said NO.
I’m writing to tell you two things. First, this battle is not over. I mean that.
There are big differences between the Senate and House versions. Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her way-out liberal friends are going to push this already bad Senate legislation further to the left when negotiations begin after Christmas to merge the bill into just one vehicle.
Early in January, you and I and all our friends across the United States will have a final opportunity to make sure this out-of-touch political class in Washington, D.C. knows the American people oppose losing their health care freedoms while spending trillions of dollars more and taking our nation even deeper into debt. The Left’s coalition in the House and Senate is extremely fragile and we only need to pick off a few votes to turn this thing around.
As Americans learn more about the outrageous political pay-offs, back-room deals, earmarks and corruption rampant in putting this legislation together they will oppose it even further. Majority Leader Harry Reid actually stated in so many words that any Senator not getting earmarks and kick-backs for their state was a chump. His quote: “If they don’t have something in it important to them then it doesn’t speak well of them.”
My second message to you: really enjoy this Holiday Season. Put a priority on spending time with family and loved ones. Celebrate Christmas with all your heart, and for those that celebrated Hanukkah, I hope it was a blessed one.
Look back on 2009 and take heart. It may sound odd to say that given the challenges we face. But, our side is on the move. We have the momentum. This year, against staggering odds, we defeated card check, defeated cap-and-trade and ignited a grassroots firestorm in every corner of this great nation. Against all expectations from the political elites, we have delayed this health care takeover for months now and we will end the year still with a chance to win.
Americans are rallying to our message. They’re standing up for their freedoms. Look at all the polling data. Talk to neighbors or friends and they’ll confirm it. Come along with me on the road sometime to these rallies across the nation and you’ll see firsthand why I’m so confident of our eventual victory!
