MUTH’S TRUTHS

Sweet Phoebe Purebread Has a Cow

It seems “Sweet Phoebe Purebread,” the communications director for the Nevada Reid-Democrat-Union Party, has her knickers in a knot/tights in a twist over the establishment of our independent Nevada News Bureau.

Last Tuesday we pointed out that anything coming out of the new Nevada News Bureau – founded as it was by a man so right-wing he fled the Republican party because it wasn’t conservative enough for him – would hardly be ‘news,’” declarethed the Democrats in their most recent Elephant Watch email newsletter.  “We revealed the new ‘impartial’ news service as what it really is – an attempt to cloak (Chuck) Muth’s partisan invectives in some kind of legitimacy to further his political agenda.”

Oh, puh-lease.

Take look at the material which has been published and distributed by the Nevada News Bureau so far and if you can find ANY hint of “partisan invective” – I’ll eat a bug.

As blogger Dullard Mush, certainly no card-carrying member of the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy, accurately notes, “the real heavy-lifting at the NNB will be by Sean Whaley..a journalist who logged almost two decades in Carson City for the Las Vegas Review-Journal (who) doesn’t exactly fit the profile of a partisan hack.  And a look at the first series of articles would tend to bear that out — straight forward, if not a tad mundane, pieces on Nevada government.”

Do Democrats ever get tired of being proved wrong?

Um, forget I even asked that.

FAMOUS LAST WORDS

  • “Looking through the pages of Rory Reid’s plan is like reading a history of Las Vegas.  There is nothing new in this plan.” – GOP gubernatorial candidate Mike Montandon
  • “(The Nevada Democrat Party) ranks near the very bottom of state party organizations nationally today.  There is no organization at all;  they have to pay people to like them, to register them to vote, and to support them now; yes, it’s gotten that bad for Nevada’s Democrats today.” – Blogger Mike Zahara, Watchdog Wag, 10/15/09
  • “Once again, (Sen. Harry) Reid is complaining that he doesn’t have 60 votes.. Republican filibuster?  Democrats have 60 votes. There is no Republican filibuster, just a Democratic one. The problem is Reid’s inability to keep his caucus together. His office can’t even be honest about Reid’s leadership failures. I’ll take a Chuck Schumer-run Senate with 57 Democrats – bye bye Reid, Lieberman, and Lincoln – than a Harry Reid-run one with 75 Democrats.” – Daily Kos, 10/14/09
  • “Nevadans who depend upon Social Security are understandably concerned by today’s announcement that there will be no cost of living adjustment.  Congress has been passing massive spending increases and creating new programs, but has not made the time to address this issue.  It is unfair to ask our seniors to go without while the federal government continues to grow at record levels.” – Rep. Dean Heller (R-Nevada), 10/15/09
