WHY AREN’T WE DRILLING NOW?

Dear Desert Conservative Visitor,

This Tuesday marked the one year anniversary of President Bush lifting the executive ban on offshore drilling – one of the key accomplishments of our “Drill Here, Drill Now” campaign. But now, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar is taking steps to prevent new drilling for American oil and gas. Here’s how:

The Interior Department writes the regulations that dictate when and where we drill, and those decisions are supposed to depend upon the opinions of citizens like you. But Secretary Salazar is refusing to release the public email address for you to submit any comments. This is not progress, and it’s certainly not transparency.

So we’re launching the next phase of the “Drill Here, Drill Now” campaign and we need your help.

We plan to get the facts out about Secretary Salazar’s actions, apply serious pressure to both him and Congress, and recruit as many people as possible to submit their comments to the Interior Department using a new online tool that we’ve been developing.

Can you make a secure contribution of $10, or whatever you can afford, to help launch this effort? For your contribution, we’ll be sending you two new “Drill Here, Drill Now” bumper stickers.

We’ve already taken the first step by leading a press conference on Tuesday at the U.S. Capitol.Click here for a video clip.

Last year we made history when we forced Congress to effectively lift the almost 30-year ban on offshore drilling. Your contribution today of $10, or whatever you can afford, will help us make history again.

Thanks for everything you do.

Your friend,
