HR 878, by Phil Gingrey (R-GA) would eliminate the entitlement of some adult relatives of immigrants to come to the U.S. This chain migration is the driving force behind our huge levels of legal immigration.
The Nuclear Family Priority Act would eliminate the categories of adult brothers and sisters, married sons and daughters, and unmarried adult sons and daughters. This would provide an immediate decrease in immigration of over 110,000 per year. The reduction would be significantly larger over time as there would be fewer new immigrants to sponsor additional relatives.
With the tremendous concern over illegal immigration, one can easily overlook that massive legal immigration places a great strain on our environment, infrastructure, and security.
