Who’s filling moral void?
EUROPEAN LEADERS and the U.S. Congress have stepped in to fill the moral void left by President Obama’s refusal to forcefully condemn Iran’s rigged election and its violent aftermath.
On Friday the European Union issued a statement condemning the use of violence against Iranian election protesters. The statement was less pointed than earlier remarks by French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who called the elections an “atrocity” and denounced the Iranian regime’s “shocking” suppression of the protests.
Congress also spoke up Friday, with the House and Senate voting overwhelmingly to condemn the crackdown on the demonstrators and to express support for “all Iranian citizens who embrace the values of freedom, human rights, civil liberties and the rule of law.”
At least eight people have been killed in protests in Iran since the government announced that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad won by a landslide in the presidential election held June 12.
The election results point to massive fraud by Iran’s clerical rulers.
President Obama’s response to this assault on free elections has been surprisingly subdued. His public comments, which have focused on the dangers of meddling in Iran’s affairs, indicate he doesn’t want to risk alienating Mr. Ahmadinejad and the ayatollahs.
The president of the United States should never hesitate to take a public stand for democracy, human rights and the rule of law. It’s a shame that the leader of France has now become the West’s most outspoken critic of tyranny and brutality in the Muslim world.
Lee ADDS: Obama thinks that his silence will placate the ruling Iranian leaders to think his way! What a HUGE MISTAKE!

Who is filing the Moral void….certainly NOT the Rightwing Puppy Kickers!
It sad when you have people who pound their chests and say we have to interfare with another nations political, civil problems.
They seem to have a case of dementia, when it comes to their own countries history!
I remember Kent State Ohio, the Civil Rights Movements and the other Protests of the late 60’s and early 70’s and it was very pretty!
I remember how the police down in Miss. Ala, and the rest of the southern states were water hosing people, beaten with billy clubs and had dogs let loose on them!
Irans Gov. is just waiting for more strong approach, and Obama is doing the right thing about and that is NOT taking sides in a civil matter!
I know, I know the Rightwing Puppy Kickers are just iching to start another Iraq war on someone else’s money so they can have there tea parties again because they don’t like paying for a war out of their pockets!!!
All’s this is to you people is just a political football just to make yourselves look good, why, because you haven’t got a leg to stand on!

The comment by ‘Whyputaname’ is reflective of a braindead person with no real grip on what is happening in the world.
I call Liberals and their Ilk senseless, inane and similar phrases and what am I called? A ‘puppy kicker.” How unimaginative and a BOLD FACED lie in its meaning.
Both the Leaders of France and Germany have made their stances known as has our Congress. Yet this brainwashed idiot backs Obama! Again, it did not take a lot of soap to brainwash ‘Why”!
If you will recall, Iran turned anti-American in the Carter years as the Peanut Farmer would not back the Shah. Well, see what it got ole Jimmy! Yep…ousted after 1 term! Obama,,,You are next!
