Let Californians Decide
Voters don’t want a bailout
American Patrol Report Commentary — May 18
In 1994, after one of the most debated issues in its history, the people of California approved Proposition 187. They did so by an overwhelming 6 to 4 margin.
Proposition 187 barred illegal aliens from receiving any taxpayer-paid benefits and services, including schools and colleges, and it directed state agencies to cooperate with federal law enforcement in enforcing immigration laws.
Through a series of maneuvers, the power elite in California, led by the Los Angeles Times, deprived the voters of their day in court to test the Constitutionality of Proposition 187. (For the entire story on Prop. 187 see a transcript of the American Patrol Radio Report of Dec. 10, 1999).
Since Proposition 187 was passed at least $80 billion of taxpayer’s money have been spent on illegal aliens, and probably a lot more.
Tomorrow the voters will have the final say. They will reject ballot measures aimed at raising their taxes. “People have no faith that the government will solve its problems,” Gorin said. “They are truly fed up.”
Any attempt by Congress and Obama to bail out California should be met with a loud outcry by Americans taxpayers. If Californians don’t want their state bailed out, why on earth should the federal government? |
