JUDGES should interpret the Constitution according to other nations’ legal “norms.” Sharia law could apply to disputes in US courts. The United States constitutes an “axis of disobedience” along with North Korea and Saddam-era Iraq.
Those are the views of the man on track to become one of the US government’s top lawyers: Harold Koh.
President Obama has nominated Koh — until last week the dean of Yale Law School — to be the State Department’s legal adviser. In that job, Koh would forge a wide range of international agreements on issues from trade to arms control, and help represent our country in such places as the United Nations and the International Court of Justice.
It’s a job where you want a strong defender of America’s sovereignty. But that’s not Koh. He’s a fan of “transnational legal process,” arguing that the distinctions between US and international law should vanish.
What would this look like in a practical sense? Well, California voters have overruled their courts, which had imposed same-sex marriage on the state. Koh would like to see such matters go up the chain through federal courts — which, in turn, should look to the rest of the world. If Canada, the European Human Rights Commission and the United Nations all say gay marriage should be legal — well, then, it should be legal in California too, regardless of what the state’s voters and elected representatives might say.
He even believes judges should use this “logic” to strike down the death penalty, which is clearly permitted in the US Constitution.
The primacy of international legal “norms” applies even to treaties we reject. For example, Koh believes that the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child — a problematic document that we haven’t ratified — should dictate the age at which individual US states can execute criminals. Got that? On issues ranging from affirmative action to the interrogation of terrorists, what the rest of the world says, goes.
Including, apparently, the world of radical imams. A New York lawyer, Steven Stein, says that, in addressing the Yale Club of Greenwich in 2007, Koh claimed that “in an appropriate case, he didn’t see any reason why sharia law would not be applied to govern a case in the United States.”
A spokeswoman for Koh said she couldn’t confirm the incident, responding: “I had heard that some guy . . . had asked a question about sharia law, and that Dean Koh had said something about that while there are obvious differences among the many different legal systems, they also share some common legal concepts.”
Score one for America’s enemies and hostile international bureaucrats, zero for American democracy.

Even though he’s up for a State Department job, Koh is a key test case in the “judicial wars.” If he makes it through (which he will if he gets even a single GOP vote) the message to the Obama team will be: You can pick ‘em as radical as you like.

Sharia law would never work in this country.
I wrote about it in my blog, and I have taken the time to rewrite it her:
It’s funny.
Lots of people seem to freak out about this idea, but realistically Sharia law would fail in the US even if it was imposed on the country.
For starters, it would be a violation of some of every American’s Bill of Rights, like the First Amendment for starters.
Think about it. The framers had no intention of allowing one single Protestant sect or Catholics or the Greek Orthodox become the only faith of the US. Such an act would plunge the country into a series of “Holy Wars” so if Sharia is rooted in Islam, it will not hold up.
Next there is the nature of such punishment for breaking these laws. The 8th amendment in the Bill of Rights states that there shall be no cruel and unusual punishment which makes Islamic punishments illegal.
If the Lobotomized Sand Niggers….I mean Mullahs decided to levy a tax on unbelievers, you can bet that many people would ‘convert’ to Islam just to avoid paying the tax and when it comes to charity, well I am sure that many worthwhile charities will be created like the “Keep Vega from going on a Homicidal Rampage Foundation.”
I mean, how many Christians actually go to Church. As Calvin told his teacher Mrs. Wormwood, you can teach the material but you can’t make me care.” The same would apply to converting to Islam in that people would do so just to avoid paying the infidel tax but not practice the rites. I know I wouldn’t and I would have a fake beard ready for when I go out.
Being restrictive also has a tendency to create dissent. When England was a Nation of God following the English Civil War, the Christians were very suppressive of numerous activities like enjoying yourself on Sunday, drinking, singing, dancing, theater and other things that resulted in fun. After Cromwell died people were actually welcoming the return of the king. So much for the people wanting to lead Godly lives.
Prohibition didn’t exactly get rid of drinking did it? Utah has some real strict booze and porn laws yet that doesn’t stop such things from entering the state by people who subscribe to such things and studying the Koran doesn’t put food on the table.
Also, Sharia law states that if a Muslim murders an apostate, they will not get the death penalty but if an apostate kills a Muslim, they will get the death penalty. That is a gross violation of the 14th amendment which prohibits BS laws like that.
Church is also boring enough for most people so I doubt lots of people, primarily men would jump at the chance to attend services 5 times a day.
Also, the tourism of the coastal regions would take a dive, ruining the economy because coastal regions are popular for the beaches right? Well with Sandnigger law, there will be segragated beaches meaning men will be at one beach and the women at another meaning that no longer will the men be able to see the hot women in bikinis, resulting in there not being a reason to go to the beach. Saudi Arabia has a lot of trouble convincing tourists from other non-muslim countries to visit them which means they have a weak tourist industry. It would mean big trouble for them but they have oil so it is no big worry to them.
Imposing Sharia Law on the US would also make the economy worse off because if a Gestapo…I mean Vice and Virtue Police is formed, the Drinking, Smoking and Porn industry will go under along with many jobs and saying “Alms for the Love of Allah” will be common. Also kiss video games, role-playing games, fiction, most movies, skydiving and other forms of entertainment goodbye because like some Christians, Sandniggers tend to find (based on the amount of child abuse/fanatisism they were subjected to in life) entertainment as being satan worship.
And with these people unemployed, benefits for the jobless will skyrocket, taxes will be raised and with no reasonable outlets of recreation the people will vote the Lobotomized Sand Niggers that put Sharia law in place out of office to get the world back on track onto the 21st century.
If it was up to me, we’d load up every Talibanesque Mullah and Pat Robertson Christian onto a ship and fire them straight into Sol so that they can experience the divine light of the heavens.
And in a literal sense it is true.

i matters not that it “wouldnt work”-the bottom line is that they will do it! i was born in 1954 and i can tell you THIS IS NOT THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ! i’m telling you right now that unless all real americans rise up to LITERALLY “IN GOD(WE)TRUST” and throw islam out of this country,it will be the islamic states of america!or as the result of civil war it may be divided into 2 or 3 countries;one being the i.s.a.-islam is FACISM!!! so Randol:GROW a cerabellum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Born here in Chicago, left as a child with parents and returned 20 years later with entire family in the area now, and the difference between living here then and Now is the difference between your very first time visiting Disneyworld (woo wee!!!) to your 1000th time at a Taco Bell or a Middle Eastern “Camel” Mart.
