The Problem with the USA is YOU

America’s challenge is not political.   Who our leaders are is not relevant to the well being our country.

It really does not matter if our leader is Bush or Reagan or Carter or Clinton or Obama.

It really does not matter if Democrats or Republicans control the Congress or the Supreme Court.

Our leaders are just a reflection of us.

Having corrupt government leaders are just symptoms of the real disease which is you.

What really matters is you.

Who are you?

What do you do?

On the scales of righteousness, the people are everyday achieving new terrifying levels of personal corruption.  The future potential of corruption is frightening.

The people do not fear the wrath of God.

A sure sign of corruption is to take a look at our children.   The Internet is filling the minds of our children with extreme images of sexual carnage that will poison their minds for years.  Sexual abuse of children under the age of 17 is epidemic (1 out of every 4 girls).  Cheating in school, casual sex, drug use and alcohol use is common activity for children under 18.  Teen girls’ making out with teen girls in public, even if both of them are heterosexual, is fashionable in high school.  Sexual Transmitted Diseases (STDs) are far too common for children under 18.  One in five non-black teens have STDs and half of black teens have STDs. The rate of suicides for children under 18 is way too high (1 out of every 12 teens have attempted suicide).   The new generations of teens are lacking a good understanding of right and wrong.  They are lost souls that are easily consumed by the hedonistic godless culture that we live in.

Our future is bleak and it is not because of leaders like Obama.  Unless the people change, the personal corruption will get worse.    The future leaders will just reflect that corruption that breeds in the citizenry.  If the people are corrupt then the government will be corrupt.

The time has come for the people to recognize that they are corrupt.   The time is now to seek the pathway of righteousness and to obtain salvation from our corruption.   We all should pray that God will have mercy on us and help us open our eyes before it is too late.

it’s a good thing that GOD wanted George W. Bush to fulfill his destiny. GOD wanted W. to be president in 2000 and 2004… W told us so…. GOD was on his side.

Unfortunately, from the looks of Jim’s post, Cristians are NOT willing to take to heart the LESSON in HUMILTY that GOD is teaching us in 2008.

GOD wishes to humble you Conservative America… are you not hearing the trumpet blasts from on high? 62 million voices have cried out in JOY for GODS WILL!!!

HUMBLE YOURSELVES BEFORE GOD’S WILL, OBAMA is President.

  2. gary Says:

You are right on the button Amen

  3. Kary Says:

Tim…. you are a horse’s rear end. 62 million un-informed, clones… The other 55 mil are not needing a lesson in humility. Did you not read the article? We are not humbled by Obama Bin Laden’s election… He represents the decline of the US moral system. One day… your smart ass ways will be played back… as will mine. Enjoy…

  4. Prof James Moriarty Says:

“The people do not fear the wrath of God.”

The problem with the USA is people who believe in mythical beings.
The C student George Dubya (just like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran) believes that a mythical being speaks directly to him !!!
In Europe we have moved on from believing in tooth faries / easter bunnies / Gods etc
You need to introduce IQ tests in America both for candidates and for the bible bashing imbeciles that vote for them

  5. Greg Says:

Prof James. You will think me a complete idiot for saying this, but I will pray for you. If you truly are a professor, then you should have the intelligence to figure the probability associated with human life “just randomly occurring”. There is a Higher Power. That Higher Power is God. He created you and He cares for you even though deny Him and laugh in His face. There will soon come a time when you will be called upon to choose. Will you place your faith in man, or will you humble yourself before the Creator? You’re a smart man. Take the time to at least read the bible and give it a fair shake. Then make your decision.

  6. Jimothy Says:

I SEE YOU GUYS CAN’T HANDLE ANY CRITICISM! HOW CHRISTIAN!

  7. Lee S. Gliddon, Jr. Says:

If you are one who believes in God and His ways, you will learn that He used foreign foes of Israel to accomplish His punishment. He allowed Asyria to enslave Israel just I as suspect He is allowing Obama to do his ill-thought out plans om America.

There is often a lot of learning under adversity! May those amongst us that need educating learn from their MISTAKES!

  8. David B. Says:

Tim; It appears it is you who requires a lesson in humility. Obama won; fair enough. We will survive. We survived four years of Carter and wight years of Clinton. We were worse off, but we survived. And, we will again.

Prof. James; The only thing mythical is your supposed intellegence. Drop the condescension and get a real job. Oh, and enjoy your eternity in Hell, heathen.

Jimothy; I can handle criticism. It’s your stupidity that’s almost too much to bear.

  9. Skip Cashwell Says:

My Grandfather, may his name be for a blessing in remembrance, taught me when I was just a sprout at age 7, the danger and continuing advance of the G-dless proponets of Communism (aka socialism). He warned me that they (Commies and Socialists) would never give up to destroy our freedom and country.

Barak Osama is the first major step in the decline and fall of what our Founding Fathers fought so hard to establish.

As for me, I shall never cow-tow to the tyrants; G-d steps in to help those that work hard to help not only themselves, but also their fellow man. So, dear Jim, get off your knees and stand up to work had for the values and freedoms you have. Don’t leave it to G-d all by himself – don’t give up or ever give in.

  10. Michelle Says:

Wow, lots of love on this site. Glad I stopped by.

  11. Al Says:

You people are insane. If you don’t take your head out of the bible you will continue to progress backward – the United States is not about Christianity and God, it’s about freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of choice. When you ignore the concept of secularism you ignore the founding principle of this great country. Wake up, stop trying to thump the bible around at everybody – most of the country no longer thinks like you do – realize this and pray in your own home, otherwise, you will make this country a christian version of Saudi Arabia.

  12. Mike Says:

    Al,
It is you who are insane. This country was founded on the belief in Christ or Savior and the freedoms such as speach. With these freedoms was required responsibility. Our wrong turn was to allow freedoms such as speach to be excercised with absolutely no accountablity (Responsibility). We went from a moral and rightous society that held values in high esteam to one of moral relevance where nothing is black or white (right of wrong), just shades of gray! The real danger from the middle east is the poison of Islam which is poised to take advantage of our new formed weakness. Islam will give our citizens two choices convert (deny GOD – go to hell with them) or be executed (live forever in heaven). If you do not believe me check the news from there about how Christianity is a capital crime. I do not see this here where the GODless have been allowed unchecked to spread their evil. I call on all Christians to step forward and be heard. We will throw the corrupt bums out and take back our country when we stop taking advice from our enemies and following political correctness (TO LIE). Step foward and only elect candidates who represent our values and stop trying to appease the enemies. Finally and above all read the word of GOD from the Bible and do not just thump it!

  13. gabriel Says:

delete all you want…. god knows what you know in your black heart to be true.. the time is nigh

  14. Lee S. Gliddon, Jr. Says:

Gabriel, your earlier comment was deleted for sexually explicit comments! Then you call us ‘black hearts!’ I suggest you wake up to Christianity since you have no idea as to what is what…! I’ll say a prayer for you.

  15. Matt in Ohio Says:

Wow. Now I know why republicans are losing elections. Because EVIL CHRISTIANS like you people are the base of the party!

  16. Lamont Cranston Says:

Four days before the 2004 elections Osama Bin Laden gave a public service announcement that predictably helped elect W.

W proceeded to invade a country run by a SECULAR tyrant, an INFIDEL who even had the Christian, Tariq Aziz, in his cabinet. With the brutal, godless government removed, the country was now a playground for the religious conservatives in their country.

They now have a goverment that respects religion, outlaws homosexuals, respects the traditional role of women, and schools that embrace religion and don’t teach EVILoution.

Some may fuss about the random killings, atrocities and other matters, but, as the American said; “Democracy is messy”

  17. revparadigm Says:

A republic based upon Biblical principles does allow freedom of religion & is not a totalitarian oppressive coin flip of Saudi Arabia. Good Lord just observe our past for that, all the evidence is plain for any to see. The bible does not teach forced conversions, therefore no principle exists within to deny choice of freewill destiny. Beliefs that God ultimately will judge humanity does not make Christians partakers in the execution of it here and now, God doesn’t need our help being some self righteous thought police. Religious principles threaded through out Government do not automatically mean a paranoid fascist theocracy, its quite simple…ITS WHAT THE PRINCIPLES CONTAIN IS WHAT DETERMINES THE END RESULT.

Placing restraints upon corrupt moral behavior is for the benefit, protection & solidarity of the Nation. What sane person would argue against “you shall not murder, you shall not steal” & rightly using “you shall not lie” in context with libel slander of another etc…also common sense has been used concerning other commandments that do not involve personal harm to others, in relation to laws. The Constitution draws from biblical principles 4 to 1 over any other existing literature, documents etc…

Concerning influence in Government – Christianity that has a sound connection to the spirit of the message of the bible, not a cold tight fist adhering to the letter of the law ideology…makes for a prosperous, morally sound Republic, just like the founding father envisioned.

  18. revparadigm Says:

    [correction] Founding father[s]… hah

  19. The Dude Says:

Now that we’re an Obama Nation the true feelings of the liberal cry babies are being displayed for everybody to see. I must admit I was not aware so many of them were such filthy pigs as is obvious based on their comments here. Once their false prophet shows his real face they’ll be the first to be made into bacon……

  20. Jason Says:

I would like to redirect and point out that there are few conservatives left who are actually conservative. Economic liberalism is brought to us by so-called conservatives… economic destabilization, bailouts, financing and credit fiascoes, S&L scandals, busted federal budgets, run-away spending, miscalculated and indiscriminate warfare, nearly bankrupting main street and local communities with disinvestment in people and blaming the poor for being poor… all the legacy of Reaganomics and Bush policies of the last 28 years, the most abhorrent in the past 8. Is it ironic that fiscal responsibility and family and community values (of which the Moral Majority thinks it has the market cornered) are really, in deed rather than just word, the realm of so-called liberals?

  21. jayinga Says:

What I recomend is the 56 million who voted with their heads instead of their hearts should buy gold and silver pull your money out of the banks and let this rat infested place go down then maybe AMERICA will AWAKE. Do your home work Bush did not cause the problem in the economy. 2007 the Demo Devils took over congress and the house. Acorn made the banks give loans out to losers who only had a breath. The media and the foriegn money bought the WHITE HOUSE. Let us all pray.

  22. johnboy Says:

If you look at the progression of TV, movies and the media over the past five decades, the liberal influence has caused a slow degradation of moral values in this country. The constant idea that intolerance is evil and that anything not tolerated by a certain person or group is discrimination and should not be tolerated by the masses..sounds a bit hypocritical I know but it is the truth. The idea that sexuality should be private was pushed as wrong and that it is ‘important for the soul’ that we be sexually explicit. I was one of the first to see MTV and their propaganda of public sexuality to hit young viewers, I was one, and it become more and more obvious as tolerance became higher and higher. Here we are today, where morals really don’t matter but the immoral can tell the public how they should act and live and unfortunately more and more young people are lining up because that is all they know now. It is like cooking a lobster. You put it in cold water on the stove, turn the burner on low and slowly turn up the heat. Eventually the lobster is cooked without even knowing it. We are now a world where we want to save the trees and kill the children. We, as a people need to wake up before we are fully cooked.

  23. Joe the plumber Says:

to some extent this article has validity.
How do you expect the dumbass americans to make a good choice when they are impressed by britney spears and think oprah is an incarnation of god.

the problem with america is americans!!!

  24. Bill Says:

Jesus must be proud of all the hatred you folks express. Never mind the facts.
There’s a separation of church and state in America.
Barack Obama will be your president too.
Those of you on this board who are willing to hear me out– some of your fellow Christians are giving your religion a serious black eye in America and around the world. Your credibility as leaders is in peril. You may not regain it for some while if you do not re-read the book of Matthew and realize that the DESIRE for war and anger is not Christ like. Hatred based on smears (go to factcheck.org search for Ayers Rezko Wright) is not Christ like. Get back to basics. Focus on smaller government and (god forbid!) reach out to some people in the inner cities. Or are they not as good as you?
NO one knows the mind of God.
    Witness November 4, 2008. Eh?

  25. BossPlaya Says:

Bill my brother, factcheck.org is run by Obama and his cronies via the Annenberg Foundation. Do you honestly trust it? Just because a site claims to provide facts….you know the rest.

  26. Paul Nguyen Says:

I think you’re right. However, how can we deal with this problem? I’ve been raising my children by using 50/50 my oriental culture and American culture but the school has dominated them with 100% American culture. Therefore, i’m likely a looser in this battle. How could I do different since I can’t leave this land? I wanted to raise my children with 100% oriental culture but people will call me extremist! My children will be confused if I did that way. Your point is absolutely right but how to resolve the problem is the big question for all parents in America.

  27. Lee S. Gliddon, Jr. Says:

Paul, It is up to you as a concerned parent to teach your children the vaqlues of truth, honesty, decency and a strong sense of personal responsibility.

Your desire to instill an Oriental cultural sense in them is OK but not totally understood. It is OK and quite acceptable to teach them their heiritage, the customs and ways of their Oriental lineage but you must be ever aware, if they are to live and progress here in the USA they must know and be aware of all they are confronted with.

I am convinced that your life is spent with the positive attributes I have made known so just make sure you pass along those that you know to be of extreme importance.

Be aware that our scholl systems are generally leaning to the Leftist movement. With this in mind, teach your children to be respectful BUT to research all they are taught that any doubt, however small, is sensed.

May the Lord be with you in your efforts. Raising children is one tough task and made tougher by the Left leaning people!

    Lee

  28. Jim Nance Says:

I have foreign worker friends and many with children just pack up and go back home because they are shock to see the moral corrupt culture and they have fear of its effect on their children.

I recommend a good church school but even those are hard to find because the moral corruption in this country is running so deep.

  29. Buck Says:

Wow! Professor Jim Moriarty, you must be one of the cool kids. A professor — and didn’t you make sure all of us know — fearful as you are that your thoughts (such as they are) have no real merit on their own.

  30. MikeeUSA Says:

    “Children under 18″

You have to be under 12 usually to be a child.
Those who can have children themselves are no children.
Young females who are fertile should be married off.

    You’re pro-women’s rights; not really a conservative (save for conserving the 1960s :P )

  31. AshleyP Says:

Wow. I never realized that we the people have so much influence on the government, but I see it now. Government BY the people indeed! I am not very surprised. Sin and corruption have been running ammuck since almost the creation of the world, and it gets worse with every generation because of sin and our fallible human nature—and yes, free will. (Free will is actually good, because it allows us to love God without being coerced, but it also gives us the free will to choose the wrong things.)

Economic materialism, as I see it, is the main problem, which I think anyone can see. Unfortunately, though, most people’s livelihoods now are based around satisfying the greed of others, which if we get rid of, keeps people from getting a means of living. It’s a terrible cycle that can only be broken if EVERYONE stops being greedy at the same time. Buuuut that won’t happen, because we’re corrupt. We always have been—even Christians, myself included. We are not perfect, because we are fallible too, and also develop biases and prejudices and can be mean and hateful too. That’s not what we’re supposed to be, but we are and must continually work on being what God wants us to be.

Which, unfortunately, gives Christians (and therefore Christ) a bad reputation in the eyes of non-Christians, as evidenced even in these replies. Please don’t judge Christ based on the bad Christians. Give Him a chance, please? All Christians (like myself) must work on changing our sinful natures and it’s a life-long process. I am sorry if we aren’t on our best all the time, but the flesh is weak. That’s where God comes in, because only He is perfect.

Meanwhile, the present and the future are in God’s more than capable hands and will triumph in the end. Corrupt culture will end someday, and that is a happy thought. Meanwhile, we must work on bettering ourselves and others based on God’s principles and standards.

  32. Florida Patriot Says:

What the left fringe will never get or more likely admit is that the separation of Church and State never meant to throw Christian values out of sound judgment by our leaders and courts. The only provision it specified was that the State could never tell a Citizen what Church to attend to avoid a repeat of the persecutions that were afflicted on diverse groups of believers under either Catholicism in Europe or the Church of England in Britain. It never meant remove all of God’s words from everything in government. This has only been pushed by the liberal left to deny God in our country. We have not repented or turned to the Lord. And we wonder why our economy is in the toilet? I agree whole heartedly that the problems we are facing now are a direct result of our abandoning the God of our fathers(note not the God of Nobama’s father(Satan)). The world’s punishment as predicted by Daniel and Revelation is very very close. One wonders if Nobama could be the False Prophet. Or has Oprah already claimed that postion?

  33. Christian Founding Says:

Al said, “the United States is not about Christianity and God, it’s about freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of choice. When you ignore the concept of secularism you ignore the founding principle of this great country.”

Wow. Is there a new “founding principle” that I missed? Did Al miss the second sentence of our Declaration of Independence, which says “that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights”? Did the Supreme Court revoke that statement? This is more proof that the public school system is failing (not that we need more proof). We used to have to memorize and understand the Declaration. Now people just don’t know what it says and don’t value that document.

The “separation of church and state” that Bill referenced and is considered law by the mainstream, is incorrect and misinterpreted, but you’ll never hear that in our school system! TJ’s “separation” was never what the big govt., anti-Christian people want it to be – proof is at http://www.wallbuilders.com/LIBissuesArticles.asp?id=123. The best thing about that article, besides its correctness, is its documentation, relying on the words and clear, specific intent of Thomas Jefferson. Everything is sourced, so you don’t have to worry about someone’s interpretation, such as Al’s assertion about what principle the USA was founded upon.

That’s the most amazing part of our society’s failure: to understand the founders’ intent, whether the issue is the first amendment, second amendment, separation of church and state, etc., all you have to do is read their writings. You’d think the school’s would teach THAT, but they don’t.

I have a simple proposal that would change everything immediately, but it would never happen: for those who pull their children out of the marxist school indoctrination system, give them their money back, an amount usually on average at least $5000 per child per year. The NEA, ACLU, & big govt. people who are the first to scream “free speech” until they try to silence those who disagree with them, would violently oppose this action. But there’s no doubt we’d have a stampede of people out of the public schools, and the salvation of our country would begin there. If we don’t give our people their freedom of education, we’ll continue to watch the implosion of our country from within.

    >>>

    Al,

You need to study your history. The founders sought to create a country that could manage itself, and that was founded upon Judeo-Christian values. Secularism was not an idea, individualism was and has been the focus of America. You are obviously drinking the Obama kool-aid.

Both Judaism, and Christianity and those who did not have a particular religion but believed in God (Jefferson) are pillars of the foundation of this country. I am not sure how young you are, but you will realize once you have children how they need guidance. The constitution is our guide just as the bible is the guide for those of us who believe. Without guidance from the bible, or the acknowledgement of a higher power than ourselves, narcissism and corruption will take hold of us. Our freedom is at stake here, and the constitution is being ignored and is about worthless with the people in power now.

It is a sad day in age where my kids do not feel comfortable expressing anything regarding God or Jesus in school, as they feel persecuted and that it’s not allowed. I see Muslim students pray on their mats daily without ramifications. What in the hell has happened to our country?

I am not saying that Christianity is superior to Islam, but the slant to do away with our cultural history is ridiculous and persecute those who believe in the bible. Why should the system allow one religion to freely express themselves w/o consequences and others are told to not express these beliefs. That’s not freedom.

I am truly hoping that the school system becomes free as I will be pulling my kid our of a standard school and putting them in a school that allows kids to be themselves without consequences.

The fact is that most of the Gen-X kids were not taught much in school, and they have no idea of what patriotism really is. The teachers unions do not allow expression of any non-liberal ideas in the schools. Our kids are being BRAINWASHED without a question. As I have both parents who were both school teachers for 30 years, they know the corruption and INTOLERANCE that exists within those organizations. The school system here in California (CTA) is a system that supports the radicialization of our kids, supports gay/lesbian teachings, and anything that is immoral as to be TOLERANT. The tolerant nature without any guidance or bearing on our foundational history is clearly destroying our country.

  35. Brock Says:

“Whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted with their own government. ” – Thomas Jefferson

It looks like the libs are succeeding in our school system. Youth today are not well informed about our country’s history and dont really know the difference between parties or what a republic, democracy or a socialist state is.

  36. Hal Herrin Says:

You’re out of your mind if you think that our leaders are a reflection of me, perhaps you. they are greedy, sellouts, idiots who are in it for themselves. They care nothing for the American people. the Democrats will be on fast track to let in even more illegal aliens to vote for them in the coming election. While we are sending the illegals home to Mexice, we should send our Congress back with them. What a bunch of freeloaders, the democrats. I am glad to say that I am an American, 61 years of age, have always voted Democrat until this Presidential election, and am ashamed of the lack of leadership in our Democratic Congress. I am totally sick of listening and looking at Barney Frank, Hank Paulson, Senator dobbs, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. Greedy bastards!!!!

  37. nlorah Says:

why are we still pretending that God in the judeo-christian-muslim fashion even exists? The events in the old testament happened just not by the people and in the time frame they could have, now that we have ya know reason! nad scientific understand that is not perfect but alot better than going along with the concepts of a couple of political and religious holy-rollers 4000 years ago who believed all the world’s animals lived within walking distance of noah’s house. Its fake made up you know like the boogyman. Or even better yet the new testament where all these wonderful things were done by a person who there was never any record of ever existing in jerusalem when it could have happened. All evidence of his existance surfaced decades or centuries after his supposed “death” Religion the best old time opiate for the ignorant.

  38. Lee S. Gliddon, Jr. Says:

niorah, I feel sorry for you and your way of thinking. To deny God is to deny your own being as accidental and useless. When you think about it you can, with an open mind, state, without doubt, God is REAL and there for me…and you!

  39. Lee S. Gliddon, Jr. Says:

Hal, Your comment is RIGHT ON TARGET! Our elected officials DO NOT REPRESENT US, they are too busy REPRESENTING THEIR GREED.

  40. OrthElCid Says:

Tim, Obama is not God’s will. We know God’s will based on the Bible. His will does not include the brutal slaughter of the unborn, even with the misnomer “choice”. His will is not for sodomite marriage. His will is not for redistribution of wealth (thievery). And his will is not for unions. If you would read the wisdom of God’s word you would see scriptural references to each of the issues and so much more.

  41. JimBo Says:

    Prejudice In 2008 America

The election is over. Americans turned out in droves to overwhelmingly choose the new leader of a country that has been a republic, until now. The bold turn towards socialism has been made. It appears to be the will of the people to do this, even if they don’t realize that this is exactly what they have done. They have been duped into the false “hope” stemming from empty promises from an unknown maniacal narcissist who is able to expertly deceive through eloquent speaking skills. The sound of the voice means more than the words spoken.

On the other hand, many believe a morally depraved nation, with no God to answer to, will be a strong nation. Some even feel that a nation of diverse religious beliefs can somehow be unified. The Islamic and Muslim nations of the world now believe they have a good foothold on American soil. Obviously, at least two thirds of this nation has no clue of the ideals of the founding fathers, or that America was blood purchased to create a nation that followed strictly the biblical teachings of the New Testament. Indeed, in the beginning, no law could be passed without proving first its basis in Holy Scripture. America became great by aligning itself with Jesus Christ. Now, in its smugness, this nation professes no need for God. We are mighty on our own. God has nothing to do with it.

Those few who are intelligent enough to learn from history are seeing the same kinds of undermining that brought other great nations to nil. Our children have been brainwashed with Darwinism. And even though his theories have been proven impossible, and he himself denied the accuracy of his “science” before dying, the teaching that we evolved from a mud puddle is all that is allowed in our school systems. The teaching that we just happened, we’re not created, makes us believe we are nothing more than animals that live for awhile, die, and that’s it. We evolved technologically from the Stone Age to the present Information Age.

So let us use the tools we have made for ourselves and collect some information we can derive from this election. From the perspective of the terrible white race and its prejudice against the black race, let us see how prejudice this abhorred race really is. Let us use our super advanced technology that gives us so many facts and see if we can come to a logical conclusion. Not, of course, that logic matters, or is even used these days, especially during election time.

Fact # 1. 17.2% of whites who voted chose John McCain because he is white and they did not want a black president. Clearly, there are still some prejudice white folks.

Fact # 2. 36.7% of whites who voted chose Barak Husein Obama because they were fed up with the way the Republican party has run the country or believed he had the best plan for the future. No doubt, many of these were swayed by the overwhelming media support of Mr. Obama, which he purchased much of with illegal campaign contributions. (That is another story)
Fact # 3. 58.9% of whites that chose Mr. McCain did so because they believed he had the best plan for the future, and had the record to prove his ability and patriotism. 92.9% of these voters believed Mr. McCain was treated unfairly by the press and had serious doubts as to the ability of the adversary to run the country.
These people checked the facts and records of both and used them to make their decision.

Fact # 4. 96.7% of the black populace voted for Mr. Obama.

Fact # 5. 86.6% of the black populace that voted for him ADMITTED openly to doing so BECAUSE HE IS BLACK, and for no other reason. MOST had no clue as to what Mr. Obamas plans entailed, and could care less.

There are, of course, more facts and statistics available with which we could learn many other things. But these few statistics I believe prove clearly just which race is abhorredly prejudice.

You will be seeing, as I already have, much media commentary on how much this great country has advanced and “outgrown” our simple minded thinking of whites being better than blacks, or any other race of people. Of the white race, this is obviously true. However, it seems the black race has chosen not to advance with us in modern thinking.

If there is to be no prejudice in this country, even to the point we elect a black man, worthy or not, to the office of president, there can be no more claims of persecution of blacks by whites. If anything, the evidence shows clearly the opposite. All Americans will suffer for what this man will do to this country. It doesn’t matter what race you are. This is America. We are not Whites, Blacks, Hispanic, Latino, Viet Namese, or anything else but Americans. It is time to stop ALL separatists ideas and reach for the goal attained by most whites. It is time to end the era of “The Miss Black America Pageant”, “The American Negro College Fund”, the “NAACP”, “Black Entertainment TV”, and any and all other race related entities.

Soon, all but the elite upper class will be poor. There can be no middle class with ambitions of stepping up out of the mediocrity in a socialistic country. No one will be afforded the opportunity Mr. Obama had, to step up from poverty to middle class to rich. No one can step up from poor to rich. All will be poor, or rich – like Mr. Obama. Get used to it folks. It is what you have chosen.

How ’bout some history? The world was a cruel place throughout history and only in the last two hundred years or so have the scary liberal ideas that slavery is wrong, kids shouldn’t work 12 hour days in factories, or women vote came about.

Every generation has a large crop who bemoan the current level of moral depravity and harken back to a gentler, more upstanding time. What do you suggest we return to? Jim Crow laws? Perhaps witch burning or the inquisition for heretics? How about child prostitution practised openly in nearly every american city?

Modern America is great, precisely because it is modern and largely secular. Set dow your bible for a few minutes and read some history, the world is a far better place than it was only 40 years ago and hopefully will continue to improve.

Fear, whether of the wrath of God, witches and demons, strangers and foreigners, or scientific discovery, has driven people to the worst excesses in history. The idea that we need more irrational fear to improve our world is ludicrous.

Peter: proud of America and it’s liberal, secular society

  44. Stephon Savoyard Says:

JimBo is flat wrong. The United States is not a Christian nation. It never was a Christian nation. It should not be a Christian nation in the future.

The United States was founded to be a nation in which all religions could worship — and compete for converts — on an equal basis. Several of the Founding Fathers were openly skeptical: Benjamin Franklin comes immediately to mind. Others were more tolerant of religion, but generally non-sectarian; Thomas Jefferson is an example. Yet others kept their religious cards close to their vests; George Washington was one of these.

Unfortunately, many of the posts on this page are based on fuzzy thinking and a poor knowledge of history. The United States was founded on many of the principles found in the Judeo-Christian tradition. This does not mean that the founders were necessarily Christians or Jews; it simply means that many of the principles espoused by Jews and Christians — justice, rule of law, preference for peace — are shared by many people, not just Christians and Jews.

But when it comes to the specifically sectarian aspects of the Judeo-Christian heritage, the Founders adopted almost nothing. Indeed, where they might have adopted sectarian approaches, they intentionally turned away.

The Declaration of Independence mentions a “Creator”. That could be the God of Genesis, or the Uncaused Cause of St. Thomas Aquinas, or the nameless Watchmaker of a Deist’s clockwork universe. It could also be Jesus — God of God, Light of Light, Very God of Very God — but there’s no hint of that in the document itself.

While the Articles of Confederation refer to the Great Governor of the World, the Constitution makes no mention of God except in the statement of the date used to mark the signing, “In the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty seven”

More notable is that by allowing the President to “swear or affirm,” the Constitution implicitly allows for the inauguration of Presidents who have no faith whatsoever. Contemporary accounts strongly imply that every word in the Constitution was carefully considered, so I strongly doubt that the inclusion of “affirm” — and the implied acceptance of Presidents without religious faith — was accidental. Indeed, I think it was clearly the intent of such men as Washington, Adams, Madison, and Franklin to allow any man become President without any regard to his religion or lack of it.

Any doubt should be resolved by the Treaty of Tripoli (http://www.stephenjaygould.org/ctrl/treaty_tripoli.html), one of the first international agreements into which the country entered after the adoption of the Constitution, specifically says that the United States is not a Christian nation. The Treaty was passed by the Senate in 1797, and signed by John Adams, one of the principal Founders. Washington, Jefferson, and Madison were all alive when this Treaty was signed and there is no evidence that any of them objected to it.

So, while Christians in the United States can be proud of what they have brought to this country, they did not bring the legal basis for our government. Christians stand equal with law-abiding people of any other faith — Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, or Wicca — and with law-abiding people of no faith whatsoever.

  45. Stephon Savoyard Says:

While we’re at it, we ought to realize that there is no such thing as sin. At least there is no such thing as sin unless we wish to say that God is either not all-powerful, not all-knowing, or not all-good — or some combination of the three.

If God is all-knowling, then nothing happens without his knowledge. If God is all-powerful, then nothing happens save with his consent. If God is all-good, then he would not consent to anything evil. So, if sin is evil, and there is no evil (see above) then there is no sin. Q.E.D.

There is a way out of this conundrum — to save sin, if you like — by being less precise in the attributes of God. If we go back to God’s self-description of “I am what I am” then we don’t have to worry about inconsistencies in being all-knowing, all-seeing, and all-good.

But most people don’t like this. They want to know what God says on particular things, such as the election of Barack Obama, the role of women in society, and the teaching of evolution in the public schools. And, if God hasn’t been clear enough — if God has left any ambiguity or space for interpretation — then they want to be able to step in to clarify His thoughts and point out the areas in which He might have fallen short. Has God failed to express His opinion by not smiting Barack Obama with a Thunderbolt? Then I’ll speak for Him now and suggest some corrections in my prayers this evening.

We thank God for His guidance. Who does He thank for Ours?

  46. Lee S. Gliddon, Jr. Says:

Steve, You try to make a legtimate arguement but fail in everyaspect.

    There is sin…

Christ died due to UNBELIEF in Him….;See Jihn 16:9.

God is good and evil is the absence of good ergo, the abesnce of God begets evil.

God gave men free will. Thereby He gave men the freedom of choice. I, for one, chose GodQ

  47. Strephon Savoyard Says:

So, I’m perfectly happy to accept your implication that God is either not all-knowing, all-powerful, or all-good. There are many religions in which different different Gods have different powers. As I recall, the Lord said “Thou shalt have no other Gods before me.” This leads me to infer that we might be allowed to have others beside or just slightly behind. Perhaps free will is when our God lets someone else’s God drive for a while.

  48. Einstein Says:

In the beginning the universe came into existence. How we know not.
14.7 billion years later, a bunch of funny looking humans in a clump of dust call Earth claims they know how. They say God created the universe, stars, Earth, all living things, and in fact provide detailed instructions on just about everything humans can, should, or could do.

These instructions are very convenient, very useful indeed. So useful, humans can use them to predict everything, explain everything, justify everything, denounce everything, blame everything on anybody. Just use God and all is fixed. Some say incredible. I say smart. Because you see:

God did not create anything, not even human, not even Himself.

    Human created Gods !!!

  49. LaDell Says:

This life is a time to choose. As Joshua said: ” Choose ye this day whom ye will serve, but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”. Perfection is not the law of this earth, but striving for perfection is. That means as we choose good over evil every day we begin to think more and more the way Our Father in Heaven thinks. This process is called repentance. The Light of Christ is the medium by which we are given understanding to help us know the path to follow to know God. Every soul born on this earth has this gift. We all start in different circumstances, but we can all discern truth by how we listen and respond to this gift.

Spiritual gifts are a sign of the true church and true believers. The Holy Ghost is a gift, that is, we have to receive it. It is not forced on us. As we study the scriptures, ponder them, and apply them to our circumstances and life, we progress to a deeper understanding of God and our relationship to Him. Any child of God can have this guidance. Revelation is real, but it is dependent on our consistent choice of that which is truth and light.

The New Testament speaks of those “ever learning, but never coming to a knowledge of the truth”. That is because exclusive reliance on facts, theories, pride and contention drive away the Spirit of Truth. Scholarship is valuable and encouraged. But, there is only one Truth. The Old Testament records the disappointment of the Lord when Israel sought the solution to their political troubles by consulting “experts” rather than calling on Him. He compared is with accepting “sparks” when they could have had light. But he allowed them their choice and its consequence. The Kingdom of Israel was soon captured and lost to history.

When we finally have all Truth, there will be neither Science nor Religion. There will only be Truth. Unless we listen to the Spirit, we will continue to have contention, bigotry on many fronts, and disunity.

    Choose ye this day.

Righteousness exalteth a nation; but sin is a reproach to an people. Proverbs 14:34

  54. Rob Says:

Are you insinuating that sexual depravity did not exist 50 years ago, or 2,000 years ago for that matter, including the most fundamentally “religious” societies? I agree that “the problem is you”, meaning all of us, but only in so much as we are all human, imperfect. The problems of society are systematical and cyclical. Children are raised by immoral and imperfect parents, and then go on to mirror them in their adulthood, and on it goes.

But it is comical to think religion, or more religion, is the answer. I see nothing in history that indicates a society ruled by religion has ever ended in anything but utter catastrophy. Religion doesn’t work because it relies on guilt, a dangerous and destructive tool, to persuade an imperfect race of man that he needs to beg for forgiveness for being who he is.

The answer, as always, is education, education, and more education, which is precisely why right wing conservatives hate and fear the world’s most respected educational instituitions. No society of educated thinkers would ever have a need for a “right wing”.
